Layering necklaces is a signature YCL look and we know our YCL Women love to layer. This is our go-to post on all things layering. We'll keep this updated regularly with tips and tricks on how the YCL team are currently layering YCL pieces and how to work new and classic YCL styles together.
The difference between chokers & necklaces?
A choker is usually between 34-40cm/14-16" long and is worn tighter around the neck or at the base of the collar bone. A necklace is any piece of jewellery longer than 40cm/16", which is usually designed to drop from the collarbone to the middle of the chest.
Why does it matter how I layer them?
Well, technically it doesn't matter how you layer them. That is part of the self-expression of jewellery. However, we do recommend not wearing two necklaces of similar lengths together as they will tangle easily if worn on top of each other. We design an extender chain into all of our necklaces to make layering your pieces easier and giving you the option to wear your two favourite necklaces together with different lengths.
The power of extender chains
YCL necklaces are designed with an extender chain to make layering your pieces easier and giving you the option to wear your two favourite necklaces together at different lengths. This also helps create layers and depth to your look with varying pieces.
Different styles of chokers & necklaces
YCL necklaces and chokers are designed to sit at different points of the collar bone and décolletage. We do this so that each piece can be worn with existing or other YCL pieces and to allow you to create different looks. We've illustrated our different styles below to make it easier for you to know what we mean when we talk about each piece and to visualise how you might wear them.
